This unusual brooch features two matching tiger's claws mounted with a filigree gold design and a seated lion with his paw on an orb. Although it is impossible to date this item accurately the subject matter and the materials suggest an item made in the days of the British Raj. The man of the family would go out to shoot the largest tiger he could find. He would then have the claws made into jewellery for the Memsahib. Values have changed since then.T is no assay mark as Indian gold does not match the same requirements for percentages of the relevant metals. The seller is not an expert and no guarantees are given. The fine filigree work on the mountings and around the flower beneath the lion would tend to confirm the Eastern origin of this unusual piece. The brooch comes in a fine black leattte box high-lighted with a gold leaf band. It has a piano hinge and brass push button fastening. The lid is lined with white silk and the brooch rests on a red velvet base. Payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction. Please note this item is being shipped from France. Please use Paypal and wait for the invoice before payment. .
