This is a piece of redwood catwalk planking from the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco , Ca. It measures 3 1/2'' x 6''. These were sold in 1937 after the catwalk was taken down. The box is in excellent shape, one side does have writing as pictured, as these were mailed in the green box and stamp and address were simply added. The redwood is imprinted with image of bridge burned into wood. It does, in fact, have paint from the bridge speckled and splattered which occurred during painting of bridge. One picture shows that distinct Golden Gate paint speckled on redwood. Also included is a leaflet with brief info on bridge and catwalk, as well as the date (1937).
