Goodell-Pratt Hand Drill No. 487 - Excellent Condition! The Goodell-Pratt catalog No 16 from 1926 describes this drill as follows: This will be found an excellent Drill of ¼ inch capacity, at very reasonable price. The gear has a wide face that is great convenience in starting drills and for delicate work. Handle in hardwood with fine polished mahogany finish pinned securely to the frame. A small side handle is provided. Frame is all steel, polished and nickel plated. Gears - teeth are all machine cut. Gear and steel pinions are nickel plated. Large gear is finished in red enamel with polished edge. The second pinion forms an excellent bearing, practically without friction. Chuck - all steel with three hardened jaws for holding round shank drill. Bright nickel finish. Drill is 11 ¾ inches long. Fully restored. Main frame fully cleaned and polished. Main gear striped and repainted. Chuck disassembled, cleaned inside and out. All inside surfaces polished, including jaws - for smooth operation. All gear tight and smooth. Side handle in Cocobolo sanded and polished. Waxed with 3 layers. Main and crank handles sanded and re-stained with red mahogay and topped of with 3 layers of lacquer. Super nice!
