This unique ashtray was made by the famous Spanish sculptor Magels Landete as the prototype for an exclusive limited quantity VIP gift in celebration of Goodyear's 100 year anniversary in 1998. It measures 4 1/2" in diameter (with a 1/2" curvature) and is a beautiful celestial Goodyear blue enamel on copper. It was made with the same process used to make Limoges or Russian enameled objects since The Middle Ages. It is enameled both front and back. The wingfoot was hand-cut from 22K gold foil, the same type of foil used to cover gold-leafed frames for priceless paintings. The wingfoot is underneath the overglaze. Due to the high materials cost and the fact that the artist would have had to have made each piece by hand, the cost was prohibitive for the 50 VIP pieces sought. Thus the ashtray never went into production -- and this remains the one and only specimen ever made.
