16mm Film SUPER RARE & AMAZING JAPAN TRAVELOGUE FROM 1953 -- FROM ESTATE OF DIRECTOR DEANE DICKASON Here's an important discovery -- Reel 3 of a travelogue of Japan shot in 1953. This film comes out of the estate of the director Deane Dickason, who produced a number of documentaries with his wife. From what I was able to gather, Deane passed away during the making of this film and his wife completed it, and showed it at a number of venues. She would give a running commentary while the film ran silently... Anyway, a few months ago I sold Reel 1 and 2 of this same film, but at that time I believed that Reel 3 did not exist or had been destroyed. Well, guess what? Here it is! It's pristine, and chock full of professionally shot images that are absolutely stunning. Shot only eight years after the end of WWII, this film is a precious document of life in post-war Japan. Please see the photos for details...there are many cities and towns covered in this film and I can't begin to list them all. One thing I can say is that the film has an emphasis on handicrafts and art, as you can see. There are shots of wood block carving and printing, painting, doll making, and so forth. Stunningly beautiful, color, silent footage. All told it runs about 800'. All of this footage is in the public domain so you can use it on your website, video production, read more
