Here we start with a vintage & extremely good looking mid century Zenith owl face tube bakelite AM alarm clock radio in great working condition. The model or chassis number on this stunning looking beauty is G503 & it was produced in the 1950 era. This was a very popular radio when it came out & still is by todays standards. You do not see this radio come up on eBay all that often & definitely not in the great condition this one is in. With it's outstanding & unique mid century owl face design makes this radio ever so cool looking to say the least. The cabinet is made of bakelite or thick plastic that is a deep rich dark chocolate brown in color. There are no cracks, scratches or chips in this cabinet. This cabinet has been cleaned & polished which still retains it's original sheen or shine & that shine is a mirror glass shine that keeps going & going & going like the energizer bunny. Folks this is a very nice radio & if I didn't already have this exact model in my own collection, it would not be listed on eBay now. I have taken many pictures of this radio & all pictures can be supersized so you may get a good view at this super cool looking & working radio. The 2 shinny metal gold/brass rings 1 for the radio dial & 1 for the clock dial are in fabulous looking condition with great looking white number with "almost" no ware to speak of on the brass rings. The Zenith gold crest in the center is in excellent looking condition. The 2 brown control knobs & brown dial pointer are original & in excellent looking & working condition. The 3 little brown control knobs on the clock are original & in excellent looking condition. The back panel is original & in fantastic condition that holds on tight & secure. The original paper label on the bottom is in great condition. The loop antenna system that is mounted onto the inside of the back panel is in great working condition that needs no additional antenna wire to receive great AM reception. There is NO dial light for the clock or the radio as this radio did not come equipped with dial lights for the clock or radio . The chassis is in good condition & it is a 5-tube unit with 2-controls & both controls are in great working condition. The chassis has had all new electrolytic capacitor/filters installed & all wax/paper capacitors were replaced & a nice electric cord has been installed. This radio has been restored to great working condition. The clock works great & keeps time & runs quietly. The alarm works too. The glass on the clock face is in great condition with no cracks or scratches. The face of the clock is in great condition with good graphics as well as the hands look great too. There has been NO work performed on the clock but it works fine at this point. I have a few clock radios in my own collection "this one included" but I myself do not leave them plugged in. There are radio people out there will say yes leave them plugged in & others will say NO do not leave them plugged in which I am one not to leave them plugged in. So the choice is yours to decide, yes or no? When this beautiful & super cool Zenith is powered up, it pulls in AM stations all around that beautiful dial & plays them clean & clear with plenty of volume & good tone quality. This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radios "unlike modern day solid state radios" can have interference in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV'S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires above your home, etc... So where you position this radio in your home may make a difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are directional meaning you "may" have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. This Zenith would make an excellent addition to your radio collection or as a stand alone radio as it's power & beauty will surely be the talk of the room by all whom enter.
