You quilt people out t will probably know what this pattern is because I have no clue. It is just a simply gorgeous quilt. Again - pardon the lousy pictures from the lousy camera on a somewhat dark day. Tomorrow - the clothesline out in the sun. It is a beautiful pale seafoam green color with a double pink contrast. These colors were the mainstay of the 30's and 40's. The quilt had been in my exes family - these were left behind with me as I was the textile individual. The loss of the job is the only reason I would part with these things. T are 5 of those "checkerboard" rows - one right down the center and the others are done in 2's on each side. It is a large quilt, too, measuring 80x94. T is "ocean waves" quilting on the border that measures 7" all the way around. The quilting stitch on the whole piece is between 8 and 9 per inch. My pictures don't do it justice so I will try to do better when the sun comes out and I can get outside. The colors are just so pretty - very subdued but graphic at the same time. I would put this out at Christmas, too, as it really is variations on red and green. The binding shows some wear but it not ripped or threadbare. It has no holes or stains that I saw any place and the back is free from the same. I had this one as well as another one I just listed professionally cleaned by a textile expert several years ago and the tags are still on it. It was stored after that, safely and has not been used. I know I had never seen the pattern - nor have I SEEN it since so I don't think it's too common either. Maybe I'm wrong. It's not fragile - it has years of good use left in it. Me? I think these old guys should be preserved at this point because once they're gone - they're it. Certainly, though, they have a lot of good wear in them. This was done on an unbleached muslin and is still very strong in feel. It's just a real treasure. Please ask all questions before the end of the auction as all sales are final. Check back occasionally as I will be listing my linens, too. I used to be a dealer so I was always a collector, too. I'm struggling along with the pictures but I'll be listing quite a few things as time and weather permit. Thanks for visiting this listing and good luck bidding. Again - any of you guys know this pattern I'd love to hear from you.
NOTE: The last picture added at the end best reflects the actual color. Weather still lousy and it's dreadfully dark. I have accent lights all over the place and still colors aren't the best. This one picture I took by the door is the best representation of the colors. I believe the green is called "seafoam green" and I know the pink is called "double pink". I didn't even take it off the hanger as the last time it was out it was only to be cleaned professionally by a textile expert. Anyway these are the colors. PLEASE NOTE: the shipping charge is wrong. It cannot include the insurance because it is based on the final selling price. What is is from my jewelry auction default and it hasn't advanced. Please do not pay the auction at the end - let me invoice you. I'm fast with it - you won't lose any time. This # is incorrect. Sorry for the inconvenience. Ele
