PLEASE READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING: This is a gorgeous set. It is a complete tea and coffee service from Meriden Britannia Company. The company which first formed in 1852 was the one of the leading manufacturers of pewter and silverware in the U.S.. They won the gold medal for silver at the 1876 Centennial Celebration in Philadelphia due to the "excellent quality and tastefulness of their designs". The Meriden company purchased the famous Rogers Silver Company in 1862. By 1898 they had formed a cooporative with several other smaller silver companies becoming the beginning of the International Silver Company, which is still in operation to this day. The mark on this set dates it to 1870's. The set is the highest quality of silverplate. It is quadruple plate. The set includes the following: A Coffee Pot. It measures 9" in height and 10" in length. T is a Tea Pot. It measures 8.5" in height and 9.5" in length. A covered Sugar Bowl. It measures 6.5" in height and 7" in length. A Cream Pitcher. It measures 4.75" in height and 6" in length. The last piece is the rare Waste Bowl. These were very popular with Victorian Tea Sets. They are hard to find, and are often confused with open sugar bowls. It measures 5" in height and 7" in length. The set has lovely decoration. All pieces are footed with an elaborate design. T is a beaded rim on all pieces and beautiful designs on the handles. The set is in very nice condition. I do not see any dents. T is some wear on the silver, most of the pieces have little for their age. The waste bowl has the most. This is a heavy set, of the highest quality. It is production # 2017 for the company. The silver may have some tarnish and need to be polished. A nice addition to your collection. I have many wonderful estate items listed this week. Buy more for combined shipping.
