Desk lid lock is adorned with carved, wooden escutcheon, but does not lock.
The lock is stuck, it can be repaired or replaced. The drawer lock works, but is missing the decorative escutcheon. I'm having a round, wooden piece made to replace it, however. The desk is on wooden casters The desk had a red felt writing area, which is in fair condition, and in need of cleaning . There is a really cool birds-eye-maple area on the inside of the desk, where the entire working area measures 19" x 24". There are two storage drawers, five small storage compartments/shelves and one large storage compartment. The piece is made of Black Walnut, with burled veneers-quite impressive. There is some minor usage damage from previous owners losing the key and trying to pry their way in, but overall, the piece is highly presentable and in very good condition. The very top of the piece, adorned by a three-sided rail, actually is removable, concealing a secret compartment to hide valuables, where even a thief who breaks into the desks locked areas cannot find! Another great thing about this piece is the size, quite a coveted size, I should think! SIZE: 28" in width x 21" in depth x 41" in height Such an EXCELLENT accent piece that would fit in SO many places.
