Here is a n Oriental antique bronze box.the main decoration is of a dragon with various other mythical creatures adorning the box.The internal of the box is lined with red silk.The original hinges are present but broken, and there are two "splits" to the corners of the lid.However, this is a very attractive piece and there is no reason that it could not be used.Looking at the item,I believe the lid to have been formed using a repousse style.I believe that there are signs of the box having been gilded in the past although this is now worn off through cleaning I suspect.The base of the box also bears what I believe to be a foundry mark,although I cannot trace this.The dimensions are approx 3.75x 3x2.5 inches with a weight of approx 435grms.
