ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS estate sale find ~ probably from 1930s or 40s old feedsack? prints and cotton solids ~ I have never seen so many different patterns !! And the colors are still extremely bright and vivid. This vintage hand-pieced and hand-quilted patchwork quilt has hundreds and hundreds of pieces of skinny rectangle strips of varying widths sewn together to form 9" square blocks. The backing is natural-colored and flannel-like (with the little nubs) and has just a few smaller tears (see photo). The batting has a little shine to it so does that mean it's synthetic? Could it be wool? I'm wondering if it may have been put together in later years from vintage 1930s fabrics? Also, t's a few pieces and t that are sewn in by machine so maybe later repairs? Measures about 70x78" (not counting the hideous 4" blue border that seems to have been inexpertly added later by machine. Has not been freshly laundered but is "clean", no hideous stains, and in pretty good shape. Structurally it's pretty sound; not much stitching has come undone at all, the quilting is about 5 stitches per inch. I don't see any big holes, just a few little ones in back, and some patchwork seams need repair. It's somewhat thick and heavy. Pictured across a king bed. This one's a beauty !! I'm happy to answer any questions. I do my best to find and reveal all flaws. Buyer pays USPS Priority Mail s/h. I'm happy to combine shipping and save you $$$. Sorry, no international shipping.
