I have no idea if this is Leeds, Staffordshire district, or from some other quality English potter, but this is OLD and BEAUTIFULLY decorated with 2 cobalt blue shades under glaze. The hand application to the body is charming (3 petal scored). The drain holes are in a diamond configuration with 9 holes. It is spectacular on display and always gets noticed! SIZE: 7 inches tall and 9" from widest part of handle to the spout tip. The ring base with recessed bottom (showing considerable blue glaze pooling) is 8cm. in diameter (about 3-1/8"). CONDITION: Some nibbles and rubbing wear to the spout; pot rim and interior are excellent with NO damage. One ring base chip & a rough to the touch area on the base which may signal a possible restoration. Absolutely beautiful and clean with no crazing nor discoloring. The LID has an old flange surface chip (discolored w/ age...see pic.#4) and another chip most seen when upside down. T is a rim edge roughness and hairline which does not penetrate. Possibly blue has been added and on the button-shape finial which is original and has not ever needed or been repaired. Being persnickity, t is a glae pop on the mid way inside part of the handle. The handle is scored on both sides all the way down to add to its aesthetic beauty. The top part has the same paw-like shape as shown in the last picture.
