This Gorgeous Old German Musical and Animated Cuckoo clock was carved in the Black Forest region of Germany. (Please view the pictures below). The clock's fantastic and very artistically carved wooden case measures a very impressive 19" long from top of bird to bottom of pendulum with a width of 10" at the widest point. The Old German carver really showed his carving ability in depicting a little Mountain Chalet with a pitched roof surrounded with lovely hand painted carvings . The entire front of the case was beautifully hand painted Black Forest Foral consisting of limbs, Leaves and three lovely Birds. The top of the Chalet displays a winged and very colorful Red Breasted Bird. The upper part of the front has a extended balcony complete with a very decorative railing. The dial of the clock is in the center and numbered with White Roman numerals and marked 'Germany' at the bottom. The hands are also very decorative . On the upper balcony are four German dressed couples that after the Cuckoo bird coo coos on the hour they will rotate, dance by twirling around while a very lovely old German tune is played ( I believe this tune is called Edelweiss)The movement of the clock was created from solid Brass metal and powered by three pine cone shaped metal weights that hang from Brass chains. The pendulum was also carved in a leaf pattern and hand painted wood. The Cuckoo bird will coo coo once on the half hour and as many times needed for the hour. The clock runs very good and all the animated dolls and music are also perfect . The condition of the wood is also with out defect . This is a beautiful old clock and will be a lovely focal point in your home's decor. I will keep my price low and remember this auction is for only 3 days , so place your bids early.
