I have up for sale a wonderful vintage patent dated 1900 Gorham Sterling Silver "Buttercup" pattern 84 piece flatware set. Most all of the pieces are patent dated c1900. The set has 84 pieces in total and consists of qty 15 6/7/8" Forks,qty 8 5-1/2" long handle olive? forks, qty 16 5-3/4" tea spoons,qty 4 6-1/2" table spoons,qty 6 8-1/2" knives w steel blades -plus one additional knife that has a separation problem,qty 4 8-3/4" knives w Stainless blades,qty 21 6" small butter spreader knives,qty 2 matching 8-3/8" Serving Spoons, qty 1 8-3/8" Serving Spoon, qty 1 8-7/8" Large Cold Meat Fork,qty 1 9-3/4" Large Knife,qty 1 6-1/4" soup spoon,qty 1 6" spade type spoon,qty 1 4-1/4" tete tete tongs,and qty 1 2-1/2" Individual Salt Spoon. Some of the pieces have a monogram -some don't. Twenty Six pieces Do Not have a monogram -the other 58 pieces do.The 5-3/4" tea spoons Do Not have a monogram - except for one spoon. The table spoons ,the soup spoon ,and the individual salt also do Not have a monogram. The large Meat Server Fork does Not have a monogram either . The rest of the pieces have a monogram that looks like an S but I am not positive on this.A couple pieces have a monogram that looks like a W. So all in all 26 pieces are monogram free while 58 has a monogram. Overall the set is in Very Fine Condition -the pieces have been well cared for and basically any wear is light in nature and is from normal light usage.Any nicking or scratching is light. Most all the pieces are in excellent shape but t are a couple pieces that have somewhat minor yet noted issues.Two of the large forks each have one tine that have a slightly bent tip.Two of the stainless knives have a couple slight teeny dings on the top of the handle.One of the steel blade knives has what I would say is a separation of the handle section and the blade section. It looks like it was pulled apart. I am sure that this could be easily fixed by a silversmith.This is the most notable issue of any piece.The rest of the pieces are excellent in my opinion. I have alot of pics to view and judge. If you need more pics -simply email and supply your normal email address as ebays "My Messages" does not afford any picture service. I do not know if the set was ever cleaned -but I do Not see any residue or anything of that nature.The set has sat a long time and could use cleaning in my opinion. I personnaly prefer a good rubbing with a silver cloth - I really think thats all thats needed. I am certainly not an expert when it comes to Silver Sets -so please ask all pertinent questions before bidding. I do not have the original box for the set but I may have one on hand if interested.Insurance is Not Provided but can be obtained at the buyers expense by adding the additional funds to the total. Out of approximately 5000 Ebay transactions I have only had a couple of people that were dissatisfied with an item. A possible Refund or Return is only applicable if I have made a substantial error in my listing -slight nuances or minor issues are out of the question because I consider most of this subjective and it leaves a door open for those very few difficult individuals that would not be happy with anything.
