This Medallion pattern piece is stamped with the Gorham Lion-Anchor- G mark, it is a 9.75 inch serving piece. The fork is pierced and very dished, so that the fork actually forms a spoon-like depression. On the handle are stamped, after the Gorham makers mark: Pat. 1864 Geo. C. Shreve & Co. Sterling and then on the reverse of the medallion, still on the back side are the words inscribed in script: La Fayette Oct. 1865. This rare piece is in excellent used condition, with no pitting or heavy scratching.
