12 Gorham Mythologique Bouillon Spoons
This auction is for twelve antique Bouillon Spoons in the Mythologique pattern designed by Anthony Heller in 1894. T are 24 different mythological scenes in this series of silverware. "Death of the Centaur Nessus" is depicted on the Bouillon Spoons. Nessus was a famous Centaur from Greek mythology. He carried off Dejanira the wife of Heracles. Heracles saw this and shot a poisoned arrow into Nessus. Before he died he told Dejanira that his blood would ensure that Heracles would be true to her forever. Foolishly believing him she gave the poisoned blood to Heracles and he died. I have 192 pieces plus the original silverware box in different auctions. T are 12 sixteen piece place settings including 12 each of six different forks, 12 each of five different knives, 12 each of five different spoons, a large solid pie knife, a large serving spoon and a sardine fork. This silverware has been in my family since it was originally purchased in 1894. T is no monogram on any of these pieces. This auction is for 12 Bouillon Spoons only. The Bouillon Spoons are 4 3/4" long and are in excellent condition considering they're over 100 years old. They have a very small amount of tarnish but look like they could be cleaned easily. The flash makes them look discolored but they're not, they're really quite shiny and beautiful! I accept PayPal ONLY. No, I will not accept any other form of payment so don't ask. Shipping will be with USPS and includes insurance and registered mail. If you have any questions please email me and I will do my best to answer promptly, although I will be out of the country until Sept. 20th.
