12 Gorham Mythologique Fruit Knives
This auction is for twelve antique Fruit Knives also called Orange Knives in the Mythologique pattern designed by Anthony Heller in 1894. T are 24 different mythological scenes in this series of silverware. "Ceres" is depicted on the Fruit Knives. Ceres was the Roman goddess of agriculture, particularly cereals and the goddess of motherly love. The word cereal derives from Ceres commemorating her association with edible grains. I have 192 pieces plus the original silverware box in different auctions. T are 12 sixteen piece place settings including 12 each of six different forks, 12 each of five different knives, 12 each of five different spoons, a large solid pie knife, a large serving spoon and a sardine fork. This silverware has been in my family since it was originally purchased in 1894. T is no monogram on any of these pieces. This auction is for 12 Fruit Knives only. The Fruit Knives are 7 5/8" long and are in excellent condition considering they're over 100 years old. They have a lot of tarnish on the blades but look like they could be cleaned easily. The flash makes them look discolored but they're not, they're really quite beautiful! I accept PayPal ONLY. No, I will not accept any other form of payment so don't ask.
