Gorham Sovereign (Old) Sterling Silver Flatware 46 Pc 1941-Set For 8-Storage Case-84 Troy Oz Total Weight Prairie Wind Antiques is pleased to be back, offering more great "fresh to the market" estate finds this week. Tired of the nail biting ups and downs of the stock market? Why not invest in something that is not only an investment, but is also something that you can use and enjoy in your home? This lovely, vintage sterling silver flatware set in Gorham's "Sovereign" pattern comes to you straight from a fine estate that we recently purchased. You will also receive what I believe to be the original Gorham storage case with it. In 1941, the Gorham Silver Company introduced the beautiful "Sovereign" pattern, designed by James Russell Price. This is a heavy, substantial pattern with a beautiful pineapple motif . The pineapple has been the traditional symbol of welcome and hospitality since the early Colonial days. This pattern is sometimes confused with a later Gorham pattern "Hispania" or "Golden Sovereign" from the 1960's and 1970's, which is very different.
