It is our honor to present this sterling silver pierced serving spoon in the Bird's Nest Pattern by the famous Gorham silversmithing firm, circa 19th Century. This piece is absolutely stunning, with a multi-piece casting design and exquisite piercing. This is the quality of craftsmanship that made Gorham Tiffany's only artistic rival in the great American aesthetic movement of the 19th Century. Form is a finial of a bird sitting by its nest of eggs, flowing into a branch surrounded by vines, which links to a wonderful pierced and incised decorated bowl. Piece measures 10" long, weighs over 2.6 troy ounces, and is unpolished, not monogrammed, and in excellent, estate fresh condition. Hallmarks on back of bowl are the old Gorham mark and "Sterling". We implore you, DO NOT miss this opportunity to own one of the finest examples of American silver ever known, offered with no reserve. The kind which brighten a museum. Please see images and contact me with any questions. Insurance will be required. We ship worldwide. Thank you and good luck if you bid.
