This is an unmarked (except saying Collins on the lenses) binocular microscope. Clearly made by Collins and marketed by Herketh Walker (stamped on the box). This is a gigantic microscope . I've given you plenty of scale photos to illustrate its size. 25"inches tall and the mirror is an astounding 3.75 inches in diameter. It comes with everything you see in the photos. This is apparently the personal microscope owned by the infamous E.W. Alabone. As shown, signed on the base Dr. E.W. Alabone. Here are 2 web site address that you could read about him. I think this item was a status symbol for him since he appears to be sort of a scammer/ or shady individual.
m.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1142239/ /news/health/157469/the_curious_case_of_dr_alaboneheterodoxy_in_19th_century_medicine/ Condition issues are as follows: One of the course focus knobs is a free spinner, but the other works just fine. One must be careful on the binocular focus knobs as they work but will slip on the gears if you muscle it. Also, some knucklehead must have been painting his office one day and decided that the box was unimportant and you'll see some brown spray paint in one of the pictures. Lacquered brass seems to be totally intact and in great condition. I will ship to the entire world but please work with me on shipping. Impossible to determine exact shipping costs to various countries. I work hard to use methods that you might request or to find the cheapest possible carrier, and never charge for my time or materials. I pack with great care and insurance is required. My experience tells me this would cost $100 bucks or so to ship overseas.
