Just cleaned out another beautiful Pittsburgh estate with many fine things to offer. Perfect timing for the holidays too! Lots of beautiful items to decorate your home or set your table. This auction is for one of the most unusual items I have come across. I am a glass lover and this venetian glass pitcher is to die for. I am almost certain it is a copy of an ancient Roman glass pitcher. The family does remember that it came from a buying trip in Venice around the turn of the century. The family was quite well off then and experienced several grand tours. The pitcher measures 10" to the top of the spout and approx. 6" wide with a circumference of 19 1/2". The craftsmanship is amazing, each rib is applied by hand all of the decorations as well and the handle is really to much for words! The glass has the overall florescent patina that I am used to seeing on ancient Roman glass this is why I feel it is a copy of one of those ancient pieces. It also has the style of an ancient piece. The jug is in perfect condition, the handle is great no chips or cracks and the bottom has the traditional broken pontil of a hand blown piece. the glass is almost favrile like. The craftsmanship is simplicity at its best, elegance, and amazing detail. I cannot imagine how skilled one would have to be to create an object like this. This is a stunning piece of glass worthy of the finest collection, it will be an addition appreciated for years to come. I am happy to offer this item as I do all of my items at no reserve. I do not offer buy it now prices. Buyer pays actual shipping usps priority mail + insurance. No aditional shipping fees are charged. If you have no feedback please contact me before you bid. no feedback bids without contact will be canceled. Thanks For shopping ebay and good luck bidding!
