Offered for auction is a rare, 129 piece Wallace Sterling Silver flatware set in their top of the line, Grande Baroque pattern, with chest. This set was accumulated by my mother in the late 1940s. The set consists of 12, 10 piece place settings plus 10 serving pieces. The set was lovingly cared for by my mother and shows only the wear accompanying its use on special occasions, two or three times per year as our family grew up. The interior of the chest is in excellent condition, and the chest is fully functional, although scuffed and marred on the outside. The set has not been used or cleaned in the ten years or so I have had it, but the condition shown in the photos below is typical. Except as noted, all pieces are solid, Sterling silver and are so marked. The set includes 12, ten piece place settings, consisting of: 12 Dinner Knives, 9 inches (with stainless steel blades) 12 Dinner Forks, 7 1/2 inches 12 Salad forks 12 Teaspoons 12 Iced Tea Spoons 12 Soup Spoons 12 Butter Knives 12 Cocktail / Desert Forks 23 Coffee / Demitasse Spoons (one of the original 24 is missing) Also included are the 10 serving pieces shown. The Sterling silver handled, ebony salad set pieces are 12 inches long. The flat blades of the serving pieces shown directly below the salad set and 4th from left on the first row in the serving pieces photo are stainless steel. All 129 pieces plus the chest are for auction for a single price. As this is my first time using eBay and I am somewhat reluctant to part with this artifact of many fond memories, I have set what I believe to be a reasonable reserve price. The second picture shows the 12 place settings less the demitasse spoons and serving pieces in the chest
A place setting shown in the third pictureconsists of, moving counterclockwise from upper left, Iced Tea spoon, Cocktail/Dessert fork, Salad fork, Dinner fork, Knife, Soup spoon, Tea spoon, Butter knife, and (two) Coffee/Demitasse spoons. The last picture is of the serving pieces. At top is a two piece salad serving set made of ebony with Sterling silver handles. The knife below it, as well as the larger version of it just to right of center in the row below, has a stainless steel blade. The remaining six serving pieces are Sterling silver. As shown, all are in the Wallace Grande Baroque pattern. I've been asked if I'd consider using . Gladly! However, buyer pays the cost. My estimate is that the cost of the escrow service is approximately $125, depending on the amount of the sale. It is up to the buyer to decide.
