Up for auction is an old postage stamp collection that was found in my husband's grandfather's closet, while cleaning out his belongings when he moved-on. The Scott album is copy-written 1930. I assume that many of the stamps in here are from in the early 1900s (1910-30). Flipping through the pages to count approximate number of stamps, I did notice one stamp dated 1894!!! There is too much to know about stamps to try to assess what is here, since we lack the knowledge and patience to research, our loss is your gain.

I will try to provide as much detail as I can, but please feel free to ask any questions prior to bidding. There are over 1700 stamps in this vintage collection. This old collection of stamps are from all around the world, some countries that I don't even recognize or perhaps no longer exist. There are many stamps with NO postal markings, but majority of the stamps have been stamped or processed through the postal service. The album is not complete or full for every country. All stamps appear to be in good condition from what I can tell with no rips or stains and have pretty good clarity or a crisp image. Majority of the stamps have been hung by a thin piece of tape on the backside of the stamp. There are many variations and denominations of the same stamp. There are stamps from all over the world, and stamps from the industrialized countries such as U.S, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Japan etc. The album is in good condition for its age, the cover's corners are starting to show signs of wear.

The hard cover is a rich red. Approximately all pages inside album have black/ white picture of stamp or designated spot to place stamp. The Country of orgin is listed on top of each page and stamps are enclosed by a black boarder. Also included in this auction is a sealed envelope with a letter still inside, postmarked from 1947 by the Presidio of San Franciso. I have attached a picture of this envelope. The back of this envelope is marked with the "American Red Cross".
