Presented for auction is the hard-to-find GRASSHOPPER Early American Pattern Glass SPOONER from Riverside Glass c.1883. This spooner stands 5 3/8" tall, measures 4" wide and the glass walls are 1/8" thick. The grasshoppers are in INCREDIBLE CONDITION...most of the time the wings or other outer edge areas are chipped...these are ALL T The spooner itself has some all-around wear in the form of fine, light utensil marks; best viewed when held up to the light, and t is a very small nick on the inside edge of the rim. Besides the incredible insects that adorn this spooner, t is also an embosed floral, cartouche-like design above the rolled feet. T are the usual old mold marks, tiny bubbles and swirls/striations in the glass; all from the molding/cooling process found in glass produced during this era. This is a SCARCE example of Early American Pattern Glass that will be a fabulous addition for one's collection of antique glass...or give as a gift! Shipping weight 4 lbs.
