GRATEFUL DEAD 81 On the Road Poster Kelley Mouse SIGNED Rare 1978 poster for the Grateful Dead "On the Road" tour, signed by legendary Fillmore and Grateful Dead artists Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse . Fantastic color and depth. The iconic skull and roses, from the pair that originally brought us this timeless symbol. A rare addition to your collection. For those that don't know the story, it was Alton Kelley and Stanley "Mouse" Miller, in September of 1966, that first happened upon the inspiration for the skull and roses motif that has become iconic for the Grateful Dead and faithful Deadheads, alike. Looking for inspiration in the San Francisco Public Library, they found it in an 1850's collection of Sufi Rubiyat (mystic poems) by Omar Khayyam, they found a skeleton crowned in roses by Edmund Sullivan. The rest, as they say....Large poster on heavy stock, measures 18 1/2" x 28". Near mint condition, with some minor edge wear.
