EIGHT PIECE 1920'S ART DECO BURLED WALNUT COMPLETE BEDROOM SET We would like to introduce you to this fabulously decorated 1920's complete art deco bedroom set in walnut, burled walnut, bird's eye maple and quilted maple. This was our own set for 10 years!!! You can believe this-we only keep the very best for ourselves! Recently we acquired a solid crotched mahogany bedroom set from the court ordered division of marital assets of a prominent New England dealer which we swapped for this fantastic set. This offering is a wonderful complete bedroom suite consisting of a large tall chest, dresser with glove boxes and tri-panel mirror, vanity on base pedestal with geometric inlaid designed top and tri-panel mirror, night stand, finely detailed full sized bed, cedar chest with secret drawer, chair and vanity bench. This is a well made high style art deco set consisting of enough pieces to fill a very large bedroom. The measurements of the pieces of this set are as follows: Tall chest 38" long, 20" wide and 57" tall. Dresser with tri panel mirror 50" long, 22" wide and 74" tall at the top of the mirror's carved crest. Vanity on pedestal with geometric inlaid top and tri-panel mirror 48" long, 18" wide and 68" tall at the top of its carved crest. Cedar lined chest with secret drawer 46 ½" long, 20" wide and 28" high. The Night stand with one drawer and base cabinet is 16" long, 14" wide and 28" tall. The full sized Bed consisting of head and foot board with solid walnut side rails has a headboard that is 57" wide and stands 55" tall. The footboard is 57" wide and is 29" tall. The vanity bench is 26" wide and 25" tall at its back rest and lastly the chair is 18" wide and 37" tall at its back's top. This set has been well cared for and has been in a clean non-smoking household. The only issues that need to be addressed are the mirrors having a streaking in the glass which is called a patina in the trade. The footboard has one piece of its applied decorative molding/carving missing but this is very hard to notice. We got it this way and never botd to have it repaired since it was such a non-issue. This is a very unique and beautiful set that is in an overall excellent state of preservation. FURNITURE WOODS 101 We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, bird's eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesn't state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos. We hope this clarifies for you some of the mystique involved with buying antique and vintage furniture.
