is yet another Antique Toleware Document Box out of a collection from Troy, Ohio. This fine looking piece of Pennsylvania German Volkskunst (Folk Art), measures 7 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" wide x almost 5" high. I find the Federal Style handle different, as usually a simple wire handle adorned the lids of a lot of these. Perhaps someone added it at a later time? The document box is in very nice shape as is the decorative painting on the asphaltum ground, t is some wear as one would expect on an object this old and the worst area is on the left side, see photo.
