I've been collecting for over forty years and I've reached the point where I have to downsize. It's either that or buy a bigger house and that's not in the works. It's very difficult to give many of these up but like I say, I've reached a saturation point. I will be listing a variety of military item spanning several periods and some reenacting gear so please check them out. Please look at the photos carefully and feel free to ask questions. U.S. bidders only.Offered here is a one-of-a-kind custom made recreation of a Civil War US Federal enlisted frock coat. I say one of a kind because this coat was custom made. This coat is so good that it looks like it just stepped out of history. It has been used but not abused and has the overall look of an old campaigner. There is some slight soiling to the sleeve lining and a few other places but nothing extreme. The brass is slightly tarnished and has a nice patina. I don't think you can tell this coat from an original. This frock coat is made of an original quality dark blue wool. This coat was custom made and is completely authentic in materials, construction and historical accuracy. This uniform coat was worn by the main bulk of the Union army throughout the war either for dress wear or in the field. It could be adapted for use with almost all regular and volunteer units. The photos really tell the whole story - more than I can write - please look at them carefully.The frock coat is as follows:The frock coat is a standard Boyle pattern jacket as produced through out the war. The coat is made of a very original quality dark blue wool identical to originals . The coat interior is lined with brown polished cotton down to the midriff. The inside front panels are quilted and padded just like the originals. There is one inside pocket. There are also two pockets lined in brown polished cotton on the tails. The sleeves are lined with off white cotton. The buttons are large brass Federal pattern. They has a nice warm patina to them. There are two smaller pattern buttons on each cuff. The collar and cuffs are piped with sky blue wool piping. There is a small silk ribbon in the fourth button hole down - a rememberance of some sort. The coat measures: chest - 41 inches; sleeve length - 24 inches; across shoulder - 19 inches; total length - 33 inches.My idea at the time was to use this coat to create a full and completely accurate early war Federal impression that I could use and display. If you are looking for a nice old campaigner that looks as if it jumped out of time, then this is it. It would made a great frock coat to use or display. It is truly museum quality.Since my reenacting days are over I am moving many items on. Over the years I always insisted on absolute quality and authenticity in the items I used for use and display.
