FABULOUS large 19th century French glazed pottery confit pot in EXCELLENT CONDITION for a piece of this time The rich green glaze is almost entirely intact - rarity in these utilitarian items Many of these pieces later had holes drilled into them to make cachepots - NOT THIS ONE - It comes to you intact It was purchased from an old French farm in Soignon in the Provence and this one is really a VERY OUTSTANDING piece It is numbered '2' at the base This great piece measures 6.7" (17cm) high 3.5" ( 9cm) across at base, 5.1" (13cm) across at widest point 3.9" (10cm) at top opening Originally used to store confit for the winter, they saw a lot of wear. This one survived in remarkable shape This AUTHENTIC piece is a must for the most disciminating of collectors of thes types of wares Photos do not justice to these pots.
