MIGUEL PINEDA. Enamel Peacock Dish. Signed. Handcrafted. MIGUEL PINEDA studied at the San Carlos Academy . Later he worked at the workshop of Maggie Howe w he learned the secrets of enameling. He established his own workshop ca. 1964-1967. His designs are inspired in Pre-Columbian Art, some are abstract and some modern. Pineda uses different techniques such as cloisonné, champlevé or mixed. He makes mostly hollowware but also designs jewelry and plaques. Pineda has entered to international expositions such as: Feria de Sevilla, Spain (1967); Barcelona, Spain (1974); Gallery Tudor House New York (1968); Lunt Gallery New Jersey (1974); Barbary Coast Fine American Crafts (1994) and Exhibition of Enameling Art (1996) in Japan; also he has exposed in many places of Mexico w his work is recognized. This beautiful dish was all hand crafted and it was inspired in nature, it has an stylized peacock over two crossed branches with leaves on it. It has an oval shape and combines different colors of enamel over the copper base. It has yellow, orange, purple, pale brown, two shades of green and gold enamels. The back of the piece is covered by black enamel with very small white dots. Itâe(tm)s a really beautiful piece magnificently crafted. A great amount of time was invested in creating this unique piece. It is a very interesting composition
