A Fantastic Early 19th Century New England SHERATON TURNED LEG UPHOLSTERED FOOT STOOL, Hartford, CT Circa 1800-1840 in the original red wash finish. A real Sheraton example with the typical highly turned legs all in CHERRY WITH THE ORIGINAL PINE TOP. This stool is in great condition with no breaks, repairs or restorations. The surface is fantastic, all original and undisturbed. The wear to the piece is exactly what you want to see. The turnings of the legs and stretchers are consistent with the Sheraton school of the first quarter of the 19th century. The red wash paint is a nice medium color and it still retains the original varnish. This is a GREAT PERIOD Foot Stool, not many of these have survived, most have been damaged or at the least, refinished. The upholstery is the second, dating to about the end of the Civil War. It is 17" across,11" deep and a full 7" tall. A truly great find especially in such fine condition. These stools are extremely rare. Typical wear associated with the age of the item.
