PART OF A LARGE FINE ANTIQUES COLLECTION LISTED THIS WEEK! CHECK OUT OUR STORE A FEW MINUTES FOR OVER A HUNDRED VALUABLE ITEMS WE HAVE LISTED THIS WEEK. AS ALWAYS, OUR AUCTIONS START AT JUST $5 WITH NO RESERVE! ~Up for auction we have a lovely pair of Italian majolica candlesticks, both are in very good condition, however, as portrayed in picture 8 one has a small paint chip. Other than that, the candlesticks are perfect (even the bottoms have been taped for years to prevent any damage). On both sticks, "Italy V-156" has been signed into the bottom. The coloring of the pair is as good as when they were first hand-painted. The maker was the starter of a little Italian family business, his son who has retired. I note once more, these were made and hand painted by the father (I don't know his name and cannot find it, neither do I know the name of his son)--UPDATE: Thanks to author Walter del Pellegrino, of Italian Pottery Marks from Cantagalli to Fornasetti and other pottery guides, the candlesticks have been identified as pieces made by Egisto Fantechi in the 1930's or 40's. The design pattern is called Mazzetto, and was first created in Faenza during the 18th century.
