Set of three glass kitchen canisters. Very heavy glass. Attributed to L.E.Smith manufacturers, although there is not makers mark or label. Heights are: largest (Flour) 10 inches without lid, approximately 12 inches with lid,- photo 6middle (Sugar): about 7 1/2 inch without lid, 9 1/2 with lid,-photo 5smallest (Coffee): about 5 1/2 inches without lid, a little over 7 inches with lid.-photo 4These canisters were available in sets of four for the mid century kitchen: intended for flour sugar, coffee and tea. These represent the three larger sizes. They were available in the bright green color offered here, a more olive-toned green, gold, orange (amberina), cobalt, and a bright ocean blue color. There may be more variations in the exact tones. Clear canisters were also made, but usually come with a plastic seal and do not seem to have been offered as kitchen ware in this range of sizes. You will find many items from this line here on EBAY over the course of a year so they are not hard to collect.Apparently these were fairly popular mid-century, although I never came across this type of glass canister until much more recently. I bought these at EBAY auction around 2010 as decorative items, simply to reflect light in some cabinets, but ended up using the middle-sized one for dog biscuits for about two years.
