This is a very clean set of mostly NATIONAL FINE thread taps and dies, National Course tap & dies, in size from 1/4"-28 to 1.0"-12". This set includes one 2.5" diameter die wrench that is 28.3" long overall, and a smaller 1.5" diameter die wrench that is 14" long. Both have two set screws to hold the respective split dies in place, both are in good, clean useable condition. The dies are 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-24, and 1/2-20 in the small dies, 9/16-18, 5/8-11, 3/4-16, 1-12 in the larger dies. As you will note, some of the are Nation Course threads. All the larger ones are GTD marked dies, the smaller dies are other brands except for the 3/8-24 is a GTD brand. The other brands are good vintage quality dies like Winter, and Thread Well from about the same period. There is one large tap wrench, 19" long overall, and one smaller tap wrench 11" long overall. The tap sizes are 1/4-28 (BRUBAKER brand), 1/4-20 (Cleveland), 1/4-20 (GTD), 3/8-24 (BRUBAKER), 7/16-20 (WINTER), 1/2-20 (GTD), 9/16-12 (GTD), 5/8-11 (GTD), 5/8-18 (GTD), 3/4-16 (GTD), 7/8-14 GTD, 1-12 (GTD), 1-8 (GTD). All the taps and dies in this set are in good to very good condition, no cracks or damage, all top quality H.S.S. steel, we believe all are made in U.S.A.. All the taps and dies have been cleaned and inspected, all are in good too fine condition, as well as the wrenches. All the wrenches are marked either Greenfield or O.K. which is the Greenfield tradename, except for the big die wrench, has no marking we can find, but matches the set. This type of dies are a very heavy duty design, and can be adjusted to cut a slightly larger or smaller diameter thread by adjusting them to suit. The box is very solid, and in good condition overall, with some imbedded metal chips inside, and some dings and wear on the outside, with good latches and hinges. The outside is a black color, and we do note that there is an area under the large tap wrench that has broken through the bottom and a hole about 3" long is noted there. There is one chip out of the side noted by the 1-8 tap to the end of the bottom of the box, can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise the box is in good useful condition to keep the set organized. A super clean and nice set from the 1940's-50's era!
