Greenwater Death Valley Copper Mining Stock Scam Certificate 1907 VF The Death Valley mining camp of Greenwater (near the Ryan mining borax claims in Greenwater Valley) did not intend to begin life as a stock swindler paradise, but with the Goldfield Nevada gold rush in full swing and the copper stock craze of 1906 - 1907 too, that is what Greenwater became. Most info on the Greenwater Death Valley copper scam of 1907 is from Jacob Herzig in his book "My Adventures with Your Money". Herzig AKA George Graham Rice describes three major parties acting in the Greenwater affair beginning with promoter Patrick Patsy Clark and Malcolm Macdonald; the second interest represented was Charles Schwab with Tasker Oddie and Charles Miller behind the monopoly money promoting in New York, Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh stock exchanges and the third interest was that of Arthur Kunze, an original locator in the region. About 200 tons total of copper ore were ever shipped from Greenwater, after millions had been invested and lost by a gullible speculative public. The stock shown here is of the Greenwater Saratoga with mines at Greenwater California and is a very scarce example.
