Please note that I automatically combine shipping (w possible) at reduced cost, for multiple cast iron auction wins, shipped in one well-packaged parcel via Federal Express BUT PLEASE WAIT FOR MY COMBINED INVOICE BEFORE REMITTING ANY PAYMENT .Originally established in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1865 as the partnership of Selden and Griswold, and chartered in 1887 as the Griswold Manufacturing Company, Griswold is known to have produced some of the finest cast iron hollow ware ever produced in America, right up to their disappearance in 1957. Lightly cleaned of dust, dirt and debris, and verified as authentic, this is vintage GRISWOLD as it was meant to look! When this rarely found #4 Combination Meat Grinder/Food Chopper left the Griswold factory, it was NOT dusty or dirty, was NOT encrusted with coagulated grease, was NOT rusty, did NOT reek of rancid oil, and allowing for age and very careful use and maintenance, looks very much as it did so many decades ago! This auction is for a VERY GOOD nickel finish GRISWOLD #4 cast iron "RESTAURANT SIZE" Combination Meat Grinder/Food Chopper , in VERY GOOD overall condition . This is an excellent casting, displaying considerably less than expected use wear, and exhibiting minimal abrasion to its nickel finish. This uncommon cast iron "RESTAURANT SIZE" Griswold #4 Food Chopper is NOT a toy, is the largest size of the five (5) Griswold grinders ever made , and was produced sometime during the 1930's and 1940's. This wonderful old collectible, weighing approximately 7 1/2 lbs., measures 9 1/2" from hopper to base, 3 1/2" wide, 4 3/4" deep, has a hopper mouth that measures 5" by 4", and has an 10 1/4" long crank-style handle. The chopper body is embossed in raised lettering on one side with the size number " No 4 ", with the 1.5" double circle/cross logo, and with the name " GRISWOLD " in the center. The chopper body is embossed on the leg with the Griswold Pattern Number " 1714 ", and the crank, with the black enamel painted Maple handle grip, in addition to showing the embossed manufacturer's name and address " THE G, M, CO, ERIE PA., ", also displays the pattern number " 1744 ". Not often found in this fine of condition, or nearly this complete, the wing nut is original to this piece, as are the included cross-shaped "Cutting Knife" blade, and the "Fine", "Medium" and "Coarse" Chopping Disks. I did NO restoration on this marvelous old Grinder, as none was needed, other than to gently wash away obvious dust, dirt and debris. Occasional and very careful use of this highly collectible vintage Food Chopper has left it in complete working order, with very little use wear in evidence. An exceedingly good choice for food preparation use, and an especially nice choice for display! Any questions?
