Griswold “ Erie ” Cast Iron #9 Skillet with Heat Ring – Cleaned and Seasoned This great 100 year old Griswold “ Erie ” #9 skillet with heat ring has been cleaned and seasoned. All the nasty baked on crud and carbon buildup have been cleaned off. It sits flat on a hard surface but has an extremely slight upward bow to the bottom cooking surface. When the 6” ruler is being held flat to the skillet bottom I can barely slide four sheets of copy paper under the other end of the ruler. This skillet was originally made sometime between 1904 and 1906. It is 11 3/8” across without the pour spouts and 2 ¼” deep. With the handle it is 16 ¼” long. The logo on the bottom is in nice condition but there is extremely shallow pin point type pitting on the bottom. There is also a casting flaw area just to the side of the back side of the handle that you can see in that picture. The back of the skillet is marked: “ ERIE ” 710 H 9 The inside cooking surface is smooth to the feel but it does have shallow pin point pitting throughout three deeper utensil cut marks that are just in front of the handle. There are no chips, rust, or repairs to the piece. There are the usual discoloration and utensil scratches from years of use and age.
