This is a very nice Griswold 4 qt. Fruit & Lard Press. It is complete and except for some very light surface rust on the inner strainer and outer can and the threads ( see photos ) it is quite wonderful. This is not the type of rust that will leave pitting. This is the type of rust that will darn near white off with your finger. Also , if you look at the last photo you will see a manufacturing error. The Griswold logo on the outer can is backwards. I`m not sure if the logo was stamped wrong or if the outer can was rolled and assembled backwards. Nor do I know if this is unique to this particular press or if it was a common occurence. Whatever the case , it seems to add odd , but yet extra appeal to the press. I pretty much caught all of the markings in the photos so I won`t type them all out but I will mention that the base is marked 47 , the bottom strainer is marked 48 , the top plunger plate is marked 49 , the locking cross bar is marked 50 and the handle is marked 52.
