Griswold # 8 Waffle Iron - New American - Base - 976-977-884 - Cast IronItem Description: A nice OLD Griswold Waffle Iron. This is the "NEW AMERICAN" Waffle Iron made by the Griswold Mfg Co. The waffle irons are a matched set (number 976 and 977) The irons lock together - see pictures for detail. The irons feature a tab which allows the irons to rotate within the base for cooking on both sides. The waffle iron feature wood handles which are not original to the piece - this is not unusual as the wood handles were not as durable as the cast iron. The nice feature of the wood handles is that they do not get hot when used like the cast iron or metal handles. The base of the waffle iron is made by Griswold and is a low base with the side handle - features the # 8 and the pattern number of 884. The best way to determine the condition of the waffle iron and base is to review the pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions. The markings on this waffle iron and base are BOLD and SHARP. This piece has been thoroughly cleaned and seasoned. It is ready for display or immediate use.Markings: The Griswold Mfg Co. The pictures are the best way to show the condition so please refer to them.Flatness: The waffle iron in the base sits FLAT.All cast iron pieces are thoroughly cleaned in a lye bath to remove all carbon build up. The pieces are then thoroughly scrubbed and rinsed to ensure any remaining carbon and lye solution are removed. The pieces are dried and heated to a mild temperature to ensure they are completely free of any remaining solutions or particles. Finally, the pieces are seasoned with a very thin layer of Crisco and allowed to cool naturally and slowly (no heat shock). A VERY light layer of olive oil is added once they are cooled. All of the pieces are ready for display or use.I am in the process of getting new items out over the summer. I am always glad to combine shipping whenever possible and the cost is based on the total weight of the package plus a confirmation slip. We make every attempt to ship within 48 hours of payment being received. This does not include Saturdays or Sundays. We only ship to the confirmed address recorded by E-Bay and PayPal. All payments must be received within 5 days. All non-paying bidders will be reported to E-Bay.2.) I apologize in advance, but due to Trust and Safety concerns, I respond only to questions and inquiries sent through the eBay message system. All messages sent directly to my email are deleted unopened.3.) I pack with care and after it leaves my care I can't be held responsible for the length of time it takes for the delivery of the item. We pack all items as carefully as possible. I try very hard to have my pictures with enough light to show the item I am selling. I do not like dark pictures that hide defects and problems and try very hard to show the buyer what they are purchasing.4.) All sales are considered final. I do not accept returns and items are purchased as it. Please make sure to ask questions and request any information (including picture requests) well before the end of the auction. I will answer all questions and requests in a timely manner.5.) I do all shipping through USPS Priority Mail. This allows for delivery confirmation, tracking, and insurance. I do often offer parcel post service though USPS. I can't control how they handle their business nor the speed or lack of in the timing of their deliveries nor can I control the amount that they are charging for delivery. This also allows for insurance which can be added to the package for an added cost.6.) We do all of our shipping through the E-Bay. Therefore, we ship to the address that shows in your E-Bay and Paypal account. If you need to have the item shipped to a different address you will need to change it in both systems before winning the bid and the invoice is sent. All of our shipping labels are printed and all shipping charges are calculated by E-Bay.7.) We do combined shipping on multiple purchases that are done within the same week. Usually the cost is about 60% of the total that is showing on the listing with the E-Bay shipping calculator. If you would like to combine shipping you need to notify me with the first auction that you win and all subsequent auctions that are won. Please note that if the shipping weight exceeds the limits of Priority Mail the cost could be substantially higher.8.) We do send refunds for any overages done through the E-Bay shipping calculator. This happens sometimes and if shipping costs are owed back they will be sent to your PayPal.9.) International Buyers: All shipments sent outside of the US are done through E-Bay's Global Shipping Program. I can only control the costs for the domestic (US) shipping.
