Groovy, 1960s, White, Tripod, Mod Atomic Lamp SCREAMING Atomic lamp on a tripod base. A very rare, mid-century find!! This lamp was produced as part of the same design line as the famous "beehive" lamps (see the turquoise lamps in the pictures below), but has a much more interesting shape. It is somewhat reminiscent of the shape of the chimney stack of a nuclear reactor. This lamp is in excellent vintage condition and adds a powerful decorative punch to any swank retro pad. The top is a cream color and emits a lovely glow when illuminated. My poor photography skills and cheapy camera do not capture the pleasing texture of the lamp: a series of soft, horizontal ribs along the entire body. The lamp has no chips, cracks, holes, or stains (the dark spot in the close-up picture is actually a flaw in the camera). The tripod legs, so definitive of the 1950s and 1960s, are wood with what appears to be a matte walnut stain. The base is metal and has developed a darkened patina. The lamp is about 14.5 inches high. A switch on the tripod base turns the lamp on and off. We love this lamp and are selling it only because our remodeling is forcing us to thin out some of our mid-century modern collection to make room for new necessities.
