This beautifully crafted necklace wascreated in Guatemala as a souvenir andsymbolizes their country. The necklacecarries a large reproduction coinpendant with the figure of RafaelCarrera and accented with 2 quetzalNational birds. R. Carrera was theruler and dictator of Guatemala in themid 1800's and one of the most powerfulfigures of central America in the 19thC. The back of the coin shows an emblemand reads Un Peso 1870. The peso wasreplaced by the quetzal coin in 1925.The necklace is filled with charms ofanimals that are native to theircountry. It has a long 28 inch doublechain with no clasp and the centerpendant hangs another 5 1/2 inches! Theentire necklace is in great conditionand very shiny!
