GUILD 1967 F-212 6-string Conversion Guitar Up for auction is one of the finest Guild flat top guitars ever produced, a venerable 1967 model F-212 , 12-string, which has been professionally converted to a 6-string guitar. The guitar is in excellent structural condition, having recently had a neck reset , new Brazilian rosewood bridge , and compensated bone saddle expertly crafted for the instrument. Here are a couple pics of the top, which is in great shape, with no cracks. The original lacquer finish has aged wonderfully, having a nice and natural gold patina: I'm fortunate to own a 1963 F-212, and it is unlike any mahogany guitar I have ever heard, save for one or two late 1930's Gibson J-35's that I've played in my time. Like the old J-35's and my '63 F-212, the tone of this vintage F-212 6-string conversion guitar is warm , dry , articulate , and very woody , having excellent projection and perfect string-to-string balance. In 2006, I luckily found this '67 F-212 on ebay, and it had already been converted to a 6-string. This is a great concept, since Guild never made a 6-string with a neck wider than 1 & 3/4 in.
