Fully Illustrated with Wood and Steel Plates, from Drawings by the Most Celebrated Artists...Boston: Dana Estes & Charles Lauriat, 1876; first edition. 4 volumes, large thick octavos, 10" x 7"; 408, 448, 408 & 458pp. Bound in dark green cloth, with titles in black and the English coat of arms in gilt to covers. A VERY readable history, with what must be HUNDREDS of full-page and spot illustrations throughout the texts. CONDITION is complete but rough. Bindings shaken, loose pages here & there, covers marked, tips worn, ends of spines show losses, inner gutters split, etc. A BEAUTIFUL production in unfortunately compromised condition; great for reading & reference, great for culling the illustrations! We're only asking $5 per volume, plus the extra $4.50 we'll need for postage that we can't charge for on the invoice because of Ebay's strange policies! Winning bidder please add $8.50 for this HEAVY 17-pound set in USA. Overseas extra, please inquire! Thanks for looking!
