This is a used set of GULF gas island canopy or building letters also referred to as Channel letters. They are internally illuminated with neon. Each letter has its own neon tubes and each letter has its own ballast inside it, so each can be wired up separately or connected in a series, whatever you prefer. I have tested each letter and all are in working order except for the letter "G" which has a broken neon tube. As a result of the one broken tube, I have a low reserve on this set of letters. I made a temporary electrical connection in order to get a photo of the letters lit up with the exception of the letter "G" which does NOT light due to a broken tube. If you look closely at the inside photo of the letter "G" you can see the broken tube. I am sure you can have this repaired locally at a sign shop that does neon repair. Each letter has two short wires protruding from the back and that is where I made my test connection. I was unable to connect and light all letters at the same time because I did not have the necessary wire to make the connection in a series. The wires have been cut very short by the sign contractor that removed them. In fact, you will have to add wire to the back of each letter prior to making your electrical connection because they are too short as is and there are no plugs on these letters. They must be wired when you receive them. You can mount them indoors or outside since they are weatherproof. They can be mounted either horizontally(as seen in photo) or vertically. I have included a photo of how the letters use to look on a gas station canopy. The letters on the gas station canopy are not the actual letters in this auction but they are identical. This is a file photo that I am using for illustration purposes only. As you can see, when lit, they light with a nice soft glow rather than a bright glaring light. This makes it nice for inside your shop. barn, garage, den, family room, basement or man cave. They also look great as a night light or even while watching TV. They would also look great along side your classic car, muscle car or antique car or even your hot rod. They are 115 volts & 6.2 amps so they can be wired directly into your existing house wiring. The letters are in good condition. There may be a minor scratch here or there, but no gouges or chips or cracks in any of the letters. Please enlarge and look closely at the photos so you can see the scratches. Remember these are USED letters and not in perfect condition. Each letter is plastic and each consists of two pieces, the cabinet and the face. The face is secured to the cabinet with four screws. Each letter is 4" thick and the individual letters measure as follows: G=27" high X 28" wide. U=15" high X 23" wide. L=23" high X 9" wide. F=23" high X 17" wide. As you can see in the photo of them standing up, they require an area about 7 feet long X 27" high in order to allow for proper spacing. Just as a suggestion, they could also be mounted vertically with one letter above the other if space is a problem. Please note that I can not insure for damage to the neon in transit since Fed. Ex. will not allow me to insure the bulbs. I can and will insure for loss or any damage to the letters themselves and that is included in the $65.00 shipping charges to anywhere in the continental US. Prior to shipment I will open each letter and pack bubble wrap around each neon tube in an attempt to prevent any damage to the neon while in transit. I will also wrap each individual letter in padding before I put them in the box.
