One word describes this timepiece: "ORIGINAL". I've seen a lot of Viennas. Few can I recall that screamed, "original" . Quite possibly this case and movement could bid higher as separate auctions. I could never do that with one so original as this. Both case style and number stamped on movement suggest this was made about 1879. Topless and bottomless now - it may well have survived a war. The track left beneath the mouting bracket says this bracket was original t T is NO damage to the case. No lifted missing veneer. No gouges. No cracks. Beneath the beatplate is another wear track. The glass! I'm a glass freak. This glass is positively gorgeous - dimpled, rippled, irregular - beautiful. The movement story unbelievable. I doubt this movement saw much use. Not a SINGLE bushing has ever been replaced, yet all wheels stand erect with less than ten degrees of slant. NOTHING in the movement has been replaced or repaired. Again; ORIGINAL! No visible wear on pinion leaves and only a trace of wear on the pallets before polishing. You know my work. I'm a perfectionist. NO detail overlooked, right down to the polished, threaded dialpost retainers. I fabricated a fresh wearplate for better efficiency. Tested for two weeks, this movement was reliable on ONE (1) pound! Three pounds is included. One pound was a test of efficiency. Hands? Yep. ORIGINAL. I only buffed them. Still factory blued. The old pendulum stick, hanger, regulating rod, and bob; Original. The bob has a very shallow dent. The dial. I ALMOST captured one of the two VERY difficult to find hairlines. That's it for a near perfect dial. An old looking - NOT original - crank is included. Motion maintenance? Yep. Duration; One week. 31" X 10" length and width. 26" from top of dial to reg. nut. Side glasses - yes. The age and style of this case suggest a very simple top and bottom piece. Glue tracks at the outer top edges of door suggest two pediments t If you are creative with wood or know one who is - This is one BEAUTIFUL piece awaiting only a wood craftsman. Yes. The finish is also original altho it appears it may have been coated with something long ago. Questions? I LOVE questions. This clock WORKS. GUARANTEED! NAWCC 0144049
