You are bidding on a Sixth Plate Rare Union Case; it is identified in Paul Berg's book as "1-73 Washington Medallion, Four Stars. The engraver's Name F. Goll appears beneath the bust. The case is black in color. It is in excellent condition except for 2 minor chips near the bottom corner. The hinges are tight and it closes tight all the way around. It has a beautiful Gilt Mat. The daguerreotype in it is of a sweet little boy, and is flawless!! It is identified in Paul Berg's book page 99 1-73; he rates this case as Rare . Meaning t are fewer than t are 60-150 copies known and that they are difficult to fi nd.
