A nice and rare pair of 18K rose gold Ã,Â"SputnikÃ,Â" earrings, probably by H. Stern. The golden domes are set with a variety of semi-precious gemstones, including aquamarine, green tourmaline, garnet, citrine, and amethyst. Each piece of Sputnik jewelry has a unique appearance, depending upon the particular combination of gems chosen and the color of the gold. These earrings have have richly colored stones set close together in yellow gold. Sputnik jewelry was created by H. Stern, BrazilÃ,Â's largest dealer in colored gemstones, and was quite popular in the early years of the space race, hence the nickname. Tested and guaranteed 18K gold.Origin: Brazil, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent. Dome Size: 3/4" diameter. Weight: 8.0 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 6.8 carats.
