Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series Part # HA3601 F-106A Delta Dart "57-2494"102 FIW, 101 FISMassachusetts ANG15 April 1982 "Cape Cod" The Convair F-106 Delta Dart began as an advanced version of the F-102 but because of so many modifications and design changes it became a new aircraft with its own designation. It was designed as a missile carrying all-weather interceptor against Soviet bombers and served in this role from the 1960s until the 1980s. The F-106A as well as the F-106B two-seat trainer served with 15 fighter interceptor squadrons starting in 1959. The aircraft was rarely referred to as the Delta Dart but was commonly called the “6”.Starting on April 28, 1972 the Massachusetts ANG 101st FIS received 26 Convair F-106 Delta Darts. Originally “57-2494” c/n 8-24-77, the 100th F-106 produced was assigned to the 95th FIS in August 1959. On June 5, 1972 “57-2494” was received by the 101st FIS where it flew until it was retired to AMARC on December 29, 1987 and stored as FN163. It was later converted to a QF-106 target drone that was shot down by a Stinger missile on August 27, 1996. 1/72 scale pre-finished.Die-cast metal with a minimum of plastic.Professionally painted. All markings are pad applied for superb results.Crew figure.Comes with display stand.Landing gear can be displayed up or down.Extremely sought after by collectors. read more
