Vintage Tapio Wirkkala Hackman Finland Stainless Puukko Knife & Leather Scabbard Bl ade measures 4" , Overall length 8 5/8". In Sheath length 9 3/4". Lightly sharpened blade. Black nylon handles. Blade etched HACKMAN FINLAND STAINLESS - TAPIO WIRKKALA. Comes with the original leather sheath with Bear Paw logo and is in excellent condition as well. A quality made hunting knife. Use photos as part of the description. History of knife: Tapio Wirkkala (1915 – 1985) a word class designer. His art work is featured at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, including this knife. Wirkkala’s puukko were manufactured by Oy Hackman AB, Sorsakoski, Finland in two sizes 3.5” and 4” blade. The knife listed is the largest one with original bear paw embossed leather sheath. Nice brass accents on guard and pommel. Excellent Condition: handling, in & out of sheath scuffs Pre 1970 design. Overall Length: 8 5/8" Blade: 4" appears to have been lightly sharpened Handle: Black nylon; brass bolster and pommel Leather sheath with hard plastic insert A piece of art knife with constantly increasing value along the American and European knife collectors and museums.
