C. Haidle, Union Pottery, Newark, New Jersey 4 Gallon Jug with Tulip Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, America's Source for Antique Stoneware , is this imposing 4 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "C. Haidle, Union Pottery, Newark, N.J." This is the work of Conrad Haidle and his partner, John Sonn, who ran this pottery together in Newark from 1871-1875 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 82). This beauty features a the pottery stamp at the shoulder and a Fancy Brushed Cobalt Tulip . Measures 17 1/2" tall. Excellent Condition . A minor 1/8" chip inside the spout. A 1/4" chip on the right side of the spout, base of the handle, and back bottom. Some wear from use. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or repairs. Bottom is slightly convex in the making.
